General Johnson 1943-2010 R.I.P

General Johnson, known for being the frontman of Chairmen Of The Board died on October 13 due to complication of lung cancer. He also wrote, produced and released his own music. To remember his musical talent I've made a little spotifyplaylist of General Johnson related stuff.

Rose Royce - Is It Love You're After

This is just one of those classics that you just love from the first moment you hear it. From the great group Rose Royce, produced by legendary Norman Whitfield and a song heavy sampled by many this is a piece you must have if you haven't heard it yet.

U.N. - Hot Lover

Here's some more good old cheesy disco for you. I found this when I diggin about 6 months ago. I had never heard of U.N. before but since it was on Prelude it had to have something good on it. With Tony Green's HI-NRG production and the backing vocals of Barbara Ingram, Carla Benson and Evette Benton this is a great energetic cheesy disco song. Enjoy!

Solomon Burke RIP 1940-2010

Today Solomon Burke died at Amsterdam airport. He was 70 years old. He's been recording music since the early sixties and had hits as Just Out of Reach of My Open Arms, Cry To Me and Everybody Needs Somebody to Love. Even though he had these hits during the sixties he never broke through big commercially and in the 70s he left the big scene. 2002 he released the beautiful album Don't Give Up On Me which at last gave him the recognition he deserved. May you rest in peace Solomon and may alot of people discover your music in the future.

3 from 1: Donna Summer

Donna Summer is an artist that has been used by many for miscrediting discomusic and for making it mainstream and light. This couldn't be further from the truth. Of course, with the sound of Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte she reached the toplists with hits like Love To Love You, Hot Stuff and I Feel Love, but these were also groundbreaking. It was the time of new sounds and styles and Donna, Giorgio and Pete did for some years release a bunch of great albums filled with superb disco music. Here is three songs for you to enjoy during the weekend.
