1. Justice - D.A.N.C.E.

The net is down at home, so to be sure that you have this year's best song 'til
new year's eve, here's an early new year's present from me to you. I know this song has been played and remixed to exhaustion, but it still remains a masterpiece. In ten year's from now we wont remember Soulja Boy or Tittsworth's latest remix. We will remember 2007 as the year D.A.N.C.E came out and Justice made it's breakthrough. So from me to you, have a lovely new year in 2008 with lots of banging music. Thank you for this year, I hope you'll enjoyed it.
Much Love Disco Dave

2. Chemical Brothers feat. Fatlip - The Salmon Dance

Was there anyone else than me that loved Pharcyde in the nineties. I thought Fatlip was dead by now, especially after the film Fatlip by Spike Jones. This song about a salmon could have been really cheezy and corny, but instead it's just brilliant.

6. Familjen - Det Snurrar I Min Skalle

Everyday day there's hundreds of electronic songs popping up from different blogs around the nets. Most of them are trash. But sometimes something happens. Out of the south of Sweden, Familjen popped up with this year's swedish electronic anthem. A love song for all the raveheads out there. Don't forget to see the excellent video to the song..

7. Club 8 - Leave the North

It's hard to find good pop music nowadays. Club 8 is a swedish group that made this years most beautiful melancholic tune about Leaving the North. Close your eyes, relax and listen to the music.

8. Common feat. Bilal - U, Black Maybe

What a man. I think Common has released his best album yet. Finding Foreveris nothing but a masterpiece. I saw Common live a few weeks back, and I was amazed to see what a true entertainer he is. Some hip hop concerts can be really boring, but this was nothing but a true musical experience. The only thing was that the soundsystem at the venue Berns in stockholm sucks big time. I don't know why they're doin anything about it. Well, well. It was really hard to coose one song from the album cause every song is brilliant. Kanye West is on it, as well as D'Angelo (!), Dwele, Lily Allen and DJ Premier. Go buy it!

9. Jay-Z - Roc Boys (And The Winner Is)

Just when you thought that it was time for this nigga to retire he released one of his best albums. For those of you who have seen the film American Gangster you'll hear the whole story being told through the album. My favourite is Roc Boys, mostly for the great horn sample. Give it up for Jigga ma nigga...

10. Kent - Columbus

I used to listen to Kent when I was younger. The first two albums were favourites for a while, but after that I lost interest. A friend of mine had been buggin me since the new Kent album came out that I should listen to it and that I would love it. He was right. I also discovered after reading an interview with them that the only music they listen to now adays is electronic music like Justice for example. That explains alot. Their new album is very electronic, and I love it!

11. Moodymann -Technologystolemyvinyle

Moodymann is back. And how he is back then. Moodymann made most of his best tracks in the 90's, but this year he came out with one of his best releases yet. I've always been a sucker for this crazy nigga from detroit and he definitely didn't dissapoint me this year either. Give it up for mr Kenny Dixon Jr.

12. Kanye West - Stronger

One of the coolest concerts this year was Kanye West @ the Way Out West festival in Göteborg. When he started playin Stronger the crowd went wild. At least I did anyway. This is by far the best use of a sample. When I first heard a radiorip of this song on the net I didn't believe my ears. Daft Punk has always been favourites of mine, and to hear Kanye go and sample their Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger was more than enough. Kanye knows how to be coolest raprat on the block. Give it up for mr Kanye West...

13. Kocky feat. Jens Lekman & Rosanna- Be Part Of It All

Kocky has definitely been one of my favourite swedish artists this year. His album Kingdom Came has a bit of everything in it. Except for Jens Lekman and Rosanna, Kocky has invited Play Paul (!), Mapei, Timbuktu, Hey Willpower and my friend Henok to mention a few. This is a swedish milestone that will be remembered and I'm sure Kocky and his La Vida Locash wont dissapoint us in the future. Be Part Of It All is my personal favourite on the album.

17. Those Dancing Days - Hitten

Those cute girls in Those Dancing Days made this year's smartest pop song. It's so simple and easy to like that it's silly. When I first saw the video of this song I thought of swedish pop bands from the 90's like Wannadies, early Cardigans and Popsicle. And I think we all need simple music like that in these complicated times.

Feist's album The Reminder is one of the best albums this year. A beautiful woman, with a beautiful voice accompanied with beautiful music. What can go wrong? Nothing. And then you can spice things up with a beutiful remix, and your day is done. Voila!

21. Sexfemman - 20ondagknut

This swedish rap over the electronic beat is great and hilarious. Some of you might remember that I posted this earlier in my post Jag älskar Sverige. This is one of the best swedish raps/grimes this year, and it's really funny.

22. Devin The Dude feat. Snoop Dogg & Andre 3000 - What A Job

Dvein The Dude together with Snoop Dogg and Andre 3000 (!). How cool isn't that. The song is a really nice and smooth song. You can imagine the three of them smoking alot of weed while recording this song. A song about the hard life of music business.

23. Kanye West feat. Lil’ Wayne, Busta Rhymes & Young Jeezy - Can’t Tell Me Nothing (remix)

Three artists released some of their best albums yet. I'm talking about Common, Jay-Z and Kanye West. Kanye surprised all by sampling Daft Punk's Harder Better Faster Stronger on his song Stronger. His album Graduation contains more songs that are as good. Here is one example remixed.

24. Säkert! - Du kanske var på Holmön

This is the most beautiful album of the year. Anna Norlin aka Hello Saferide recorded an album entirely in swedish about being different, being lonely shooting rapists and being unhappily in love. Säkert! does it with such a gentle touch that it doesn't sound corny or geeky, it's just emotional and beatuiful. It's hard to choose one song from this album, but I chose Du kanske var på Holmön at last.

25. Junior Boys - In the morning (Hot Chip remix)

Hot Chip made this remix for Junior Boys' The Dead Horse EP and it's one of the best remixes that came out this year. Just close your eyes, put your headphones on and dream away to the world of electronic music. I can't begin to tell you how much I've listened to this remix over the year. Simply put, it's a beautiful piece of music.

26. Adam Tensta - They Wanna Know (Remix)

I'm too tired to write. I just came home from the Common concert. It was great. Well here's one of the coolest swedish rap songs ever...

27. Robin Thicke - Cocaine

A new star on soul heaven. Most might know him since he appeared on 50 Cent's Follow My Lead from his Curtis album. Robin Thicke is too talented too stand in the shade of Mr Bigmouth though. On his album The Evolution of Robin Thicke he invites artists such as Faith Evans and Lil' Wayne (who by the way is everywhere). His song Cocaine is a great example of blending pop & soul. Sit back, picture yourself the scene in Scarface where he dips his nose into a mountain of Cocaine and dig to the sweet sound of Robin Thicke.

Willie Hutch

A friend sent me this video of Willie Hutch from the show Soultrain. I can't explain how cool this is. A couple of years ago Theo Parrish made a great dirty edit of it on his 12" series of Ugly Edits. I'll just squeeze that in for you as well. I'll get back to you soon...

28. Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - Beggin’ (Pilooski Re-edit)

As you all can see and hear this song is old as the street. It was first released 1968.
You know Frankie and his Four Seasons is really that kind of band granny likes to listen to while reminiscing about old times.
Pilooski gives this northern soul gem new life though. And how he those it then. This french guy gives Frankie Valli new life with this re-edit. This edit is one of a series of 12" releases that goes under the name Dirty Edits. Each record is only released in 1000 numbered copies so stand in line if you want to get a hold of these attractive edits. Until you get it you can listen to it here!

29. United Artists - Copenhagen

This song was made for the danish fashion designer Mads Nørgaard's short fashion-film The Copenhagen Experience. United Artists consists of Steen Jørgensen (the original singer from Sods), Anders Trentemøller, Marie Fisker, Noam Greigst, Djuna Barnes and Mads Nørgaard himself. The only thing I know about the song except for that is that, it is a cover of an old Sods (that later became Sort Sol) song. This is going to be released as a limited 7" single but I don't know when or if it has been released yet. There's hardly any information about it on the net.
It's a simple pop song though that gets a hold of you with it's brilliant chorus.

30. Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso vs. Salem Al-Fakir - It’s True (Original Mix)

This is the kind of simple pop song that I tend to have problems to resist. I heard myself saying that "Well, the song is not that good David." The point is that I always returned to it over and over again. And it always makes me smile just like a good disco classic as There But For The Grace Of God Go I or I Was Born This Way. When it all comes down to it, hasn't all good dance music been about love and happiness?

It's true, life will smile for you...

31. T-Hud feat. Three 6 Mafia - I'm A Gangsta

Just when I thought I was tired of thugs rapping about bitches and sluts and being so hood and gangsta and all this song landed in my lap thanks to ART.BITCH.
Who then is T-Hud you might ask. His name is Troy Hudson and plays in the NBA league in the states.
His music career has been a big flop though. His album Undrafted only sold 78 copies in the states the first week.
Anyway, this song from the album that features Three 6 Mafia is really good. So put on you sneakers and pull your pants down real low and throw your guns in the air and shout out loud "I'm A Gangsta Motha Fucka!"
