I'm Undecided

There's not much that can affect you so much than true soul music. One of my all-time favourite soul songs is with the for most people unknown Toussaint McCall. "I'm undecided what I'm gonna do, can't see my baby when I want to." Is there any one who doesn't know how that feels. It definitely strikes a chord on my heartstrings anyway.
An interseting thing is that the cover for the album Nothing Takes The Place Of You that the song is taken from has a picture of a white couple which shows how present the race issue was in the music industry in 1967.

The Beatles!

I might have mentioned this before but one of my all time favourite bands have always been The Beatles. I grew up with my dads old albums and homemade cassetts of them and so it got stuck. Another who've had The Beatles as his favourite bands is the always charming Daniel Johnston. Let's hear him talk about it.
This is funny!

Fela Fever

I'm almost only listening to Fela Kuti now and I'm getting africanized to the core. Through the hard times I'm passing through Fela is giving me energy with his groovy jazzy nigerian power. This is truly a power greater than myself. Hardly no track with Fela is less than 15 minutes. This is political and spiritual music that has no comparison in western music. This music comes from the jungle, it comes from the desert, it comes from desperation, it comes from struggle and oppression, but most of all it comes from the heart. Just like the heart the nigerian funk never stops beating even though you try to fight it, it will keep beating until you give in to the almighty power of FELA!!!
